Hello!
MY NAME IS Morgan
I began my art journey long before taking an art class. My love of creativity and craftsmanship steamed from watching craft shows and videos and telling myself I could do that too. As I pursued STEM fields in middle school I still came back to art to express love or friendship via homemade cards.
In High School I watched my friend draw hyperrealism and became obsessed with the concept. I spend hours on end watching drawing videos and practicing. My family was always supportive of me no matter what I drew. This motivated me to improve.
At Divine Child High School I was able to reach my full artistic potential. Taking design, beginner drawing, watercolor and oil painting. The teachers gave suggestions to help me improve (some of my early art is pictured to the left). My Junior year I was able to participate in my first art show. I was determined to be selected so I worked day an night sacrificing food and sleep to study the techniques of accomplished artists such as Johannes Vermeer and John Singer Sargent. I also watch incredible hyper realistic oil painting tutorials. This deep immersion led to me not only being selected to be apart of the show but I won Best in Show for my first oil painting Portrait!
Now I am currently at the University of Michigan majoring in Biology and minoring in art.
Artists are often their own worst critics. Improvement does not happen over night, It takes long sleepless nights and years of dedication. I hope my art journey inspires people to not be afraid to purse their passions!
